OMTE Names PERU as the top Equestrian Tourism Destination for 2025

The World Organization of Equestrian Tourism (OMTE) has awarded Peru the prestigious title of Equestrian Tourism Destination for 2025 , celebrating the country’s rich equestrian heritage, especially the renowned Peruvian Paso Horse, which is recognized as a National Cultural Heritage.
Jorge Navarro Bernal, President of the Cultural Association of the Peruvian Paso Horse and OMTE delegate in Peru, highlighted that this recognition not only honors the Peruvian Paso but also celebrates other native breeds like the Morochuco, Chumbivilcano, and Andean Horse.
From February 17-20, OMTE President José Sererols visited Peru to certify local tourism companies in the equestrian sector, further enhancing the country’s appeal on the global stage.
Looking ahead, the Third World Championship of the Peruvian Paso Horse will be held on October 4-5, with participants from 12 countries. This recognition not only promotes Peru as a top equestrian tourism destination but also helps preserve cultural traditions, stimulate the local economy, and offer travelers the opportunity to explore the country’s stunning landscapes on horseback.
