Miami, FL – MIFA Gallery is pleased to present Parallel Worlds: Cartography of the Mutable, a solo exhibition by César Arturo Rey opening in October 2025. This deeply evocative body of sculptural work invites viewers into a space where oceanic depths and cosmic dimensions converge—a cartography of transformation that maps the fluid boundaries of identity, memory, and belonging.
In Parallel Worlds, Rey offers more than objects—he offers portals. Each sculpture is an organic form in flux, a being that hovers between marine creature and celestial body. Made from recycled materials and brought to life through delicate interplay with artificial light, the works become visual metaphors for human adaptation and emotional metamorphosis.
Through shifting textures, transparency, and material density, the sculptures invite reflection on the invisible spaces between what is solid and fluid, intimate and infinite. They hold tension and harmony, nostalgia and motion, becoming markers of a journey that is both inward and outward.
As curator Mahara Martinez notes, “These are not static works. They are suspended landscapes—emotional topographies—that ask us to reconsider where we end and where the world begins.”
Rey’s practice deconstructs the landscape to rebuild meaning. By working with discarded elements and transforming them into poetic structures, he challenges conventional perceptions of the natural and the artificial. His sculptures offer a meditation on how we navigate the world—through masks, memories, and the longing to connect.
Parallel Worlds reminds us that we are all travelers between realities—bodies in motion, suspended between the sea and the stars.
