Miguel Torruco Marqués inaugurates the presence of CDMX in “Punto México”

The country’s capital has a hotel infrastructure on the rise: in 2020 there were 572 hotels with 50,780 rooms, while in 2019 there were 567, with 49,779 rooms

The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, today inaugurated the exhibition “Art and Colors of the CDMX” at “Punto México”, a Sectur site that has become a showcase for the promotion of tourist attractions in the 32 states of the country.

Accompanied by Gabriela Cámara Bargellini, honorary president of the Mixed Tourism Promotion Fund of CDMX, who attended as personal representative of the Head of Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo; Francisco Ruiz Herrera, in charge of the office of the Tourism Secretariat of this metropolis; and the Undersecretary of Quality and Regulation of the federal Sectur, Humberto Hernández-Haddad; The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) expressed that the objective of this exhibition is to spread the tourist and cultural wealth of the capital of the country, as well as its artisan offer to national and foreign tourism.

He commented that from January 11 to 29 the public will be able to know and acquire different artistic expressions of Mexico City, since this sample presents textiles, ceramics, clay, jewelry, confetti, cardboard, basketwork, wood, straw and pewter, among others, with the participation of 30 exhibitors.

He specified that among the benefits obtained with this exhibition is the dissemination and promotion of the country’s capital as a tourist destination, as well as achieving an economic benefit for the artisans and producers who participate and incorporate them into the tourism value chain.

For her part, Gabriela Cámara Bargellini, honorary president of the Mixed Tourism Promotion Fund of CDMX, stated that, even in these difficult times of the pandemic, the capital of the country has been able to survive and give the world an example of responsible hospitality in all its industries, as well as in the safety and hygiene measures and the offer it has for the world.

He assured that the city has the enormous luck of being the melting pot of the entire country, and that the objective of this exhibition is to show this mosaic of popular art and make its artisans visible as relevant actors in the cultural offer for tourist activity.

“Under the policy of economic reactivation established by the Head of Government, the Ministry of Tourism continues to promote the union of artisans residing in this city, with activities not only aimed at continuing to learn and specialize in their different arts, but also to recover the economy of their workshops, their families, their communities, we also need to ensure that the artisans have a fair remuneration for their work ”, he concluded.
