The Minister of Tourism Iván Eskildsen received today the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Central American Tourism Council
The Minister of Tourism of Panama, Iván Eskildsen, received this January 20, in a symbolic act from the Director of the Guatemalan Institute of Tourism (INGUAT), Mynor Cordón, the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Central American Tourism Council (CCT) and with it assumed leadership of the actions promoted by the Board of Directors of the Central American Tourism Promotion Agency (CATA), within the framework of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) that takes place in the Spanish capital.
During the first semester of 2022, Panama will focus its efforts on leading a regional tourism integration and promotion agenda that seeks to contribute to the transformation of the industry, valuing the cultural legacy with the extensive natural wealth of the isthmus. In this way, it will seek to continue advancing towards the full recovery of tourism, by strengthening the industry.
In this sense, the Minister of Tourism of Panama, Iván Eskildsen indicated that We will maintain the region’s commitment to the transformation of post-pandemic tourism, following the guidelines of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), accelerating progress towards inclusion, empowerment community, adaptation and mitigation of the effects of climate change.
For his part, Mr. Mynor Cordón, Minister of Tourism of Guatemala and outgoing President Pro Tempore, made a brief account of the achievements made in the period July-December 2021, among which a firm commitment to the intra-regional market, the adaptability of the industry in the face of new trends, the exploration of opportunity markets and the development of a tourism integration strategy between Central America and the Dominican Republic.
The transfer was made before the Ministers of Tourism of the SICA Region accredited before the Kingdom of Spain, representatives of the National Tourism Authorities of Central America and the Spanish media in the framework of the press conference promoted by CATA in the framework of FITUR 2022.
