ACI marks the milestone of the 500 airports with the Carbon Footprint Accreditation

More than 500 airports are now actively engaged in addressing their global climate impact

The International Council of Airports of Latin America and the Caribbean joins the global celebration of an important sustainability milestone for the airport industry. More than 500 airports around the world are now certified under the Airport Carbon Accreditation program – the independent framework that guides airports on the path to more sustainable operations. ACI-LAC has 71 airports actively committed to climate action under the auspices of this global carbon standard for airports.

“I am very pleased to announce that the Airport Carbon Accreditation program has reached a momentous milestone with the accreditation of 500 airports around the world. This achievement represents a significant step in our joint efforts to tackle climate change and create a sustainable future for aviation. I would like to especially congratulate and single out the airports in the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region for their outstanding commitment, with 71 airports having achieved accreditation. Their dedication and leadership in adopting sustainable practices are a setting a great example for the global aviation community Together, we are shaping a more sustainable and resilient future for our industry.” commented Dr. Rafael Echevarne – General Director of ACI-LAC
