With its new fleet of 160-seat B737-8 aircraft, non-stop flights to Panama will operate on Mondays and Thursdays to allow for weekend trips or longer stays
Cayman Airways Limited (CAL) has announced that its growing route map of international destinations will include Panama, Central America this summer when the airline relaunches non-stop flights between Grand Cayman and Tocumen International Airport (PTY), beginning June 26. from 2023.
With its new fleet of 160-seat B737-8 aircraft, non-stop flights to Panama will operate on Mondays and Thursdays to allow for weekend trips or longer stays. Departure from Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM) will be late in the morning, arriving in Panama early in the afternoon after a 1 hour and 50 minute flight. The arrival flight will leave Panama one hour and 30 minutes later, arriving back in Grand Cayman before 5:00 p.m.
“This is the second major launch between Grand Cayman and a major gateway in just six months,” said Minister for Tourism and Transport Kenneth Bryan.
“Our announcement today represents another significant achievement in the collaboration between the Ministry, the Department of Tourism and Cayman Airways. Given the importance of tourism to the Cayman Islands economy, we are fortunate to have Cayman Airways as our national airline. and strategic tourism partner. I would like to thank the management and staff of the airline, who I know have worked very hard to get this service up and running in a relatively short space of time,” added Minister Bryan.
Cayman Airways President and CEO Fabian Whorms said that Cayman Airways is delighted to return to vibrant and modern Panama City: “This route will provide the perfect mix of leisure and business travel options for our customers in Cayman , as well as in Latin America.With a flight time of just one hour and fifty minutes with our new fleet of B737-8 jets, the flight schedule has been designed to offer convenient two-way same-day connectivity between Grand Cayman and dozens of cities in Central and Latin America. The schedule also connects to some of our existing international routes, such as Havana, Kingston and Miami.”
Mr. Whorms said the airline is also focusing on the cargo potential of the route, as Panama’s Colon Free Trade Zone offers significant cargo distribution, allowing for more alternatives from imported goods to the Cayman Islands.
