The Ecuadorian airline and the association share objectives, interests, challenges and a commitment with the environment
ALTA announced that the Ecuadorian airline Equair has joined the association.
In its first year, Equair made more than 4,700 continental and insular flights, reaching 95% satisfaction among its travelers and a punctuality percentage of 98% on flights to the main cities of Ecuador including Quito, Guayaquil, Baltra and San Cristóbal , these last two located in the Galapagos Islands.
“Equair and the members of ALTA have in common the commitment to work in a sustainable way with the environment. Under its commitment to be carbon neutral, it has applied policies such as the recovery of 100% of carbon emissions from the beginning of its operations, it also highlights its responsible use of water, the use of non-polluting materials and the absence of single-use plastics. at your service on board. Our new member fills us with satisfaction and encourages us to continue working to achieve the necessary conditions for the region’s airlines to achieve their great goals in environmental matters”, says José Ricardo Botelho, executive director and CEO of ALTA.
For his part, Frederik Jacobsen, CEO of Equair highlighted “we are very pleased to join ALTA since we share objectives, interests, challenges and problems in the sector and we want to contribute from our experience to the strengthening of our industry in Latin America”.
The Ecuadorian airline expects to continue growing this year, with the arrival of more aircraft for its fleet and expanding its network of international routes. As early as July 2022, Equair launched charter flights to Curaçao (CUR) and Punta Cana (PUJ), under an agreement with Ecuadorian travel agencies. This year it has operated charters to PUJ, CTG and RIO.
Currently, the airline indicated that it has 30% of the market and that the occupation continues to consolidate and already exceeds 70% in several of its national route
