Small Luxury Hotels of the World Celebrates 35 Years with Portfolio Growth and New Openings

Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) is celebrating its 35th anniversary with continued global expansion and a strong pipeline of new member hotels scheduled for 2026. In 2025 alone, the brand welcomed 100 new properties, bringing its curated collection to more than 650 independent hotels across nearly 100 countries.

Looking ahead, several notable openings and reopenings are planned for 2026. Niva Labriz Seychelles is set to reopen this month following a comprehensive renovation. In China, Shanghai Muh Shoou Zhujing, a 60-room hotel located in the historic water town of Zhujing, is expected to open in April 2026. Greece will welcome The Landmark Rhodes in May 2026, featuring coastal villas and a dedicated spa on the island of Rhodes.

Japan will see the debut of The Pasona in June 2026, a sustainability-focused hotel with a spa specializing in marine-based wellness treatments. That same month, Australia’s Levantine Hill Hotel is scheduled to open in Victoria’s Yarra Valley, offering 33 rooms alongside the estate’s cellar door, restaurant, and event facilities.

Later in the year, SLH plans to welcome Sanctuary Rainforest Resort & Spa – Dominica, a 72-room property that will mark the brand’s first presence in Dominica. Also expected to open in 2026 is Villa Helios Capri, an intimate nine-suite hotel located near Capri’s iconic Piazzetta in Italy.

SLH’s recent growth builds on a wave of new signings in late 2024 and throughout 2025. These include nature-driven retreats such as Mt. Cook Lakeside Retreat in New Zealand, Art Hotel Riposo in Ascona, Switzerland, and Snowpine Lodge at the base of Alta in Utah. The brand also expanded into Finland for the first time with the 2025 openings of Skyra Retreat and Galdu Hotel & Spa. Additional 2025 openings included Aurelio Hotel & Chalet in Lech, Austria; the adults-only Cabu Hotel Rhodes; and The Evren near Vagator Beach in Goa, India.

Beyond portfolio expansion, SLH marked the first anniversary of its strategic partnership with Hilton in July 2025. More than 500 SLH properties are now accessible through Hilton’s direct booking platforms, including Hilton.com and the Hilton Honors app, contributing to an 18% year-on-year revenue increase in 2025.

The brand also introduced the SLH Wellbeing Collection in 2025, launching with 15 existing member hotels focused on holistic wellness experiences.

“As SLH marks 35 years, our purpose remains unchanged: to champion the world’s most inspiring independent hotels,” said Richard Hyde, Chief Operating Officer of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. “2025 was a year of renewal and reflection as we continued to evolve our portfolio and deepen our commitment to conscious travel, wellbeing, and authentic experiences. Looking ahead to 2026, we are excited to welcome new member hotels that share our belief that true luxury lies in individuality and meaningful connection, and to continue inspiring our global community of more than 300,000 engaged SLH Club members.”
