Small Luxury Hotels of the World Marks 35 Years with Global Expansion and New Openings Ahead

Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) is celebrating its 35th anniversary with continued growth and an expanding global footprint. In 2025 alone, the brand added 100 new member properties, bringing its portfolio to more than 650 hotels across nearly 100 countries.

Looking toward 2026, SLH has outlined an ambitious pipeline of openings and reopenings. Among them, Niva Labriz Seychelles is set to reopen following a full renovation. In China, the 60-room Shanghai Muh Shoou Zhujing is expected to debut in April, while May will see the opening of The Landmark Rhodes, a coastal retreat featuring villas and a spa on the Greek island of Rhodes.

June brings two notable additions: Japan’s The Pasona, emphasizing sustainability and marine-based wellness experiences, and Australia’s Levantine Hill Hotel, a 33-room property in Victoria’s Yarra Valley connected to an established winery estate.

Later in the year, SLH plans to expand into new territory with Sanctuary Rainforest Resort & Spa in Dominica, marking its first property in the country. Italy will also welcome Villa Helios Capri, an intimate nine-suite hotel near Capri’s famed Piazzetta.

Recent additions to the SLH collection highlight a strong focus on nature-driven and boutique experiences. These include Mt. Cook Lakeside Retreat in New Zealand, Art Hotel Riposo in Switzerland, and Snowpine Lodge in Utah. The brand also entered Finland for the first time with the openings of Skyra Retreat and Galdu Hotel & Spa in 2025.

Other recent highlights include Aurelio Hotel & Chalet in Austria, the adults-only Cabu Hotel Rhodes, and The Evren in Goa, India.

Beyond its growing portfolio, SLH continues to benefit from its partnership with Hilton, which marked its first anniversary in July 2025. More than 500 SLH properties are now bookable through Hilton’s platforms, including its website and mobile app. The collaboration has contributed to an 18% year-over-year revenue increase for SLH.

“As we celebrate 35 years, our mission remains the same: to champion exceptional independent hotels around the world,” said Richard Hyde, SLH’s chief operating officer. “With a strong focus on conscious travel, wellbeing, and authentic experiences, we look forward to welcoming new members in 2026 who share our vision of meaningful, personalized luxury.”
