STR reveals which is the region that reports the greatest recovery in hotel performance

According to a study published today, the Middle East leads the way towards the long-awaited recovery of the industry

The Middle East hotel industry reported revenue per available room (RevPAR) that was 85.6% of comparable pre-pandemic, the highest among world regions, based on STR data as of end-2021.

“The year-end data shows the significant variation in recovery by region, stemming from different levels of pandemic restrictions around the world,” said Robin Rossmann, CEO of STR. “The Middle East has been a leader in both opening up to international arrivals and hosting major events, such as Expo 2020, which has boosted hotel performance in Dubai. On the other end of the spectrum, there are areas, like Europe, where the recovery has stalled due to the re-implementation of COVID restrictions. As we move into 2022 and subsequent lockdowns are gradually lifted, we expect the recovery to resume.”
